The Farm's Little Helpers
Like many small charities, Swansea Community Farm has had a tough year to make sure ends meet. With the cold period of winter bringing higher overhead costs, continuing feed costs for their rare breeds animals and of course extra straw to keep them warm, they are not out of the deep end. However, this turned around last week, when they were informed about three one off donations at £500 each.

Kari Lucas, the Farm’s Community Development Manager explained, ‘The Farm has gratefully received three separate donations; one from SPAR in Caerithin Cross whose staff nominated the Farm as their charity of the year; one from Swansea’s Metropolitan University towards their budding range of partnership events; and the last from an anonymous donor who is sincerely thanked by everyone at the Farm.’

Swanssa Community Farm, in Fforestfach, offers local people the opportunity to see, experience and be actively involved in a small working farm. The Farm has rare Welsh breeds of Welsh hilts, Llanwennog sheep and also features hens, goats, poultry, and ducks. Kari continued to say, ‘These three donations will benefit everyone who uses the Farm. From the local children and young people, regular adult volunteers, including those with learning difficulties, our valued visitors and of course our rare breed animals. We cannot thank of donors enough’.
