| Piglets have sprung! |
|
We all know that spring has arrived when the daffodils start to bloom, the crocus' are in flower and there are primroses on every street corner. Yet at the Farm, we have other methods of identifying when Spring has finally sprung... baby farmyard animals! Elvis and Priscilla, our Kune Kune boar and sow, were preparing to depart our Farm. The plans were set for them to relocate to a new Community Farm in Pembrokeshire called the Mount. But whilst we were packing their bags we discovered that Priscilla was pregnant and due within the month. So plans have been changed, with Pris and the piglets staying for a further two weeks whilst Elvis has gone of ahead to prepare their new home (DIY and all that jazz).
So... the long and short of this curly-tailed story is that Priscilla has 5 gorgeous little piglets that are simply waiting for your pearly eyes to peer over the animal house wall into their pen and smile with adoration. You can check out a few videos of the piglets on their first day at http://www.youtube.com/user/swanseacommunityfarm . The Farm is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm, including the Easter Bank holidays. We also have a number of activities taking place over the next few weeks if you are looking to get involved. In case you didn't know, the Farm cafe is now open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 2pm - so why not come along, show your support and help us grow into the future!
