| Summer Playscheme |

It may be the Summer holidays but life doesn’t stop at Swansea Community Farm. If you are looking for something for the kids to do this Summer, why not come along to our Play Scheme being held every Monday and Tuesday throughout the holidays. Funded through Swansea’s Play Team, the play scheme has proved extremely popular in the past and the Farm is confident that this year will be just as active and lots of fun. There are many activities on offer including adventure play, willow weaving, sports games, woodwork, junk arts and crafts, camp fires and much more. Speaking about the play scheme, Child and Youth Project Officer, Alyson Williams said: “This year’s play scheme promises to be very exciting this year. We are theming this year’s activities around ‘Environmental Arts’ and we are really looking forward to how the children and young people interpret arts in the environment. One major activity for this year will be making instruments with nature, for example making drums and rain sticks out of what they can find around the farm and surrounding woodlands. There will be lots of noise and lots of fun for everyone.” Talking about the activities on offer, Alyson also added: “Every Monday over the Summer we will have other community teams joining us and with the extra staff on site we will be able to offer nature walks around the woodland and heath surrounding the Farm. Even though we are a City Farm there is so much nature on our site and we want to show everyone in the community what is right on their doorstep.” The Play Scheme will be taking place every Monday and Tuesday between 10am and 2pm. For a small fee of £1 per child, why not come along and join in with the many activities on offer. (Under 8’s must be accompanied by an adult and it is advisable to wear suitable clothing). We do have a Café on site where you can buy lunch, but if you prefer bring along a packed lunch and sit in the sun in our new picnic and outdoor seating area. |
