The project at the Farm started in February 2005 as part of the broader Swansea Community Recycling Alliance Partnership (SCRAP) and City & County of Swansea project supported through the Strategic Recycling Scheme and which aims to make a significant and long-lasting contribution to the ongoing improvement of waste-minimisation in Swansea. Why compost?Food waste and green-waste sent to landfill sites rots away, giving off methane, which is one of the gases causing climate change. It also takes up valuable landfill space and the faster we fill up our existing landfill sites, the sooner we will need to create new ones. The Welsh Assembly Government believes that Wales should be a sustainable country and that we should minimise our impact on the environment in all aspects of our lives. Composting is one of the most valuable things that you can do, at home, to reduce your own impact on the environment, it’s also really easy! Come along to one of our training days, book your school onto the schools programme, drop in to see our Compost Demonstration area or sign up to be a Master Composter and discover how you can start to change your world! |
This project has been supported through the strategic recycling scheme.

The aim of the Home Composting project is to help Swansea residents reduce the amount of biodegradable waste they send to landfill by composting as much as possible at home.
