In The Grounds

The gardening work and allotments are managed by a very capable and diverse group of volunteers.

The gardening work attracts a willing and able workforce of volunteers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds each of whom bring their own valuable skills and ideas to the farm. The volunteers help plant, raise and harvest vegetables in our allotment garden, and of course they get to taste the fruits of their labour.

It’s not all carrots and cauliflowers though, we also work very hard together to keep the site looking at its best through regular garden maintenance and developing new and exciting projects. In 2007 this included planting our orchard, creating a bog garden and improving and expanding the allotment area, not to mention cooking up some delightful concoctions in our earth oven with ingredients fresh from the plot.

We learn from one another, from our experiences and most importantly from Mother Nature who seems to have all the answers. Under her watchful eye we always manage to get the job done.
