Annual Farm Residential Fun

Last week, our Farm Clwb members swapped screens for sleeping bags and came together for our yearly farm residential – a magical few days of camping on the farm, learning new skills, and building confidence.

Thanks to Swansea Council COAST funding, we were able to give our young people the chance to step away from their daily routines and experience something different – building resilience, discovering new talents, and just generally having a fun weekend.

Over the course of the residential, we played farm hide and seek, cooked our own pizzas, enjoyed an afternoon tea party, and got creative with arts and crafts. Animal Cwtch visited, letting us hold geckos, snakes, and lizards, and we even got to meet marmots and owls. Andrew from Dryad Bushcraft CIC taught outdoor survival – from building a pretty awesome shelter with ferns and fallen branches (that one of our young people slept in!) to fire lighting – before we ended the day with s’mores and toasties around the campfire. We even pitched a Dragon’s Den-style business proposal for guinea pigs… watch this space for the result.

Here’s what our young people had to say about the weekend:

“I learned that I can overcome my social anxiety to do things that I wanted to do but was scared of.”

“Having no phones around the campfire is more fun.”

“I can do anything. I feel braver. It was scary sleeping over but I’m really strong.”

“I feel happy, trusted and close to others now.”

“It was the first time I slept in a tent on my own.”

The smiles, laughter, and building in confidence are why we do what we do – helping every young person to know they are capable, valued, and part of something special.

I just read about the Annual Farm Residential Fun what a wonderful chance to connect with nature, learn teamwork, and unwind from daily stress. Meanwhile, as a UK student, the pressure of coursework deadlines can be overwhelming. I got a major assignment at university and needed help completing it on time. That’s when I discovered a service offering academic editing help. Their academic research paper editing has improved clarity, corrected errors, and polished my work so professors take it seriously. If you’re ever stuck, this kind of support really makes a difference.
