What a Day! FarmFest25 Brings the Community Together

We’re still buzzing from our amazing FarmFest event at the end of last month. There was a real sense of togetherness that filled the Farm, as over 1,000 community members joined us throughout the day to celebrate an incredible 25 years of Swansea Community Farm transforming lives. From live music and donkey rides to drumming, crafts, and delicious local food, the farm was filled with everything we love about our community and we can't believe how many people came out to support our anniversary and party with us. THANK YOU for being such an amazing community!

We'd also like to say a special thank you to our dignitaries who took the time out of their day to officially open our event - The High Sheriff of West Glamorgan, The Lord Mayor of the City and Council of Swansea and Cllr Rob Stewart, Leader of Swansea Council. As the High Sheriff stated: “For a quarter of a century, the farm has been a place of growth, resilience and belonging touching the lives of people of all ages. It is thanks to the dedication of volunteers, trustees, staff, supporters and partners that the farm continues to thrive. A true example of making a difference."

We also received a visit from The Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Gaynor Richards who spent the whole afternoon chatting with our community members, staff and volunteers. Diolch yn Fawr.

Thank You to Our Wonderful Volunteers💚

We want to give a special shout out and thank you to everyone who volunteered, performed, or helped out on the day. Your energy and enthusiasm made this a celebration to remember and a wonderful reminder of what makes Swansea Community Farm so special.

Did you spot our staff and volunteers in the bright yellow t-shirts on the day? We went full retro in honour of the farm's original opening ceremony in 2000, and replicated the original design. You can watch the original footage of that day on our YouTube channel here.

A Celebration to Remember 🎉

We had some amazing local music acts, including Choirs for Good, Swansea Bay Buccaneers and headliners Dark & Twisties, while little ones (and big kids!) took on the Rodeo Bull, tried their hand at circus skills with Circus Eruption, and joined in drumming workshops with One Heart Drummers. Our fantastic friends at Sketty Scouts were a real hit and dedicated their time, demonstrating some awesome bushcraft skills to our younger crowd.

Our Cornel Cofion memory project brought so many amazing stories, thank you to everyone who shared their photos and memories of the farm over the years. Seeing how much the farm means to people has truly been heart-warming.

"Having my life transformed by this community!"

"I loved walking the goats and feeding the apples to the pigs"

"The children from my class school trip loved making bread"

"I loved the apple day, spinning and squashing the apples"

If you would like to share some of your memories we'd love to hear from you. Pop in for a chat or email us info@swanseacommunityfarm.org.uk
